Frequently Asked Questions

Huntington Quilters is a community of quilting enthusiasts dedicated to promoting friendship and the love of quilting. Our guild holds monthly meetings where members come together to share their passion for this timeless art form.

Membership Dues

Annual membership dues are $35 covering the period from September through June.

Can I Try a Meeting Before Joining?

Yes! You’re welcome to attend one meeting as a guest:

  • $5.00 fee for a regular meeting

  • $10.00 fee if there’s a Guest Speaker or a special event for which the Guild has paid a fee

If you decide to become a member at that meeting, your guest fee will be applied toward your membership dues.

 

What Are My Obligations as a Member?

To be a member in good standing, we ask that you:

  • Buy or sell four books of Raffle Quilt tickets annually (totaling $30). This is our main fundraiser and supports our programs and expenses.

  • Make at least one Pro Bono quilt per year (crib- or lap-sized). The Guild provides fabric and materials, or you may use your own.

Interested in getting even more involved? Members are encouraged to volunteer for elected positions or serve as committee chairpersons.

 

What Should I Bring to My First Meeting?

Bring a good sense of humor and get ready to enjoy yourself!
If there’s anything specific needed for a meeting, members are notified in advance.
Have a project to show? Feel free to bring it for Show and Share!

 

Can I Bring a Guest?

Yes, guests may attend one meeting:

  • $5.00 for a regular meeting

  • $10.00 for a meeting with a paid Guest Speaker or special event

If your guest decides to join at that meeting, the fee will be credited toward their dues. After attending once, guests must become members to continue participating.

 

Do You Have a Newsletter?

Yes! Members receive a bi-monthly newsletter, included with your dues.

  • The newsletter is usually sent by email to support our eco-friendly efforts.

  • If you prefer a printed version, we’re happy to mail it to you upon request.

  • Member contributions are welcome and encouraged!

 

Do You Offer Programs for Beginners?

While our programs aren’t tailored to a specific skill level, we aim to provide content suitable for quilters of all experience levels.
Activities may include:

  • Lectures

  • Demos

  • Trunk shows

These programs are designed to educate, inspire, and introduce members to a variety of quilting styles and techniques.
